Host C3
Perhaps you are considering having the Cross Canada Cruisers team come and visit your assembly. This page will provide an overview of what you might expect if they come to visit in your area, to work and learn beside you in evangelism.
WORKING TOGETHER:
Cross Canada Cruisers is for assemblies that have been in prayer about how they should spread the good news, feel C3 would be an answer to those prayers and are willing to do the preparation necessary for a full week of evangelism. This would mean co-labouring with the team in whatever form of witnessing the assembly decides to do, and do the follow-up work of Bible studies and counselling of contacts after the team leaves.
WELCOME:
When the team arrives, it is a good time to meet the team. Often a meal together is a great way to start the week.
CLASSES:
The team spends time each week in class, receiving teaching on various topics and subjects from the Word of God. There will be at least eight hours of class time per week along with study hall periods for the young men to have their own individual study time.
The classes will be taught by evangelists and teachers, well known to the Lord’s people. They will spend the week with the team, teaching and working alongside them. These classes are open for anyone in the assembly to come and visit and enjoy spending time in the Word of God with the team.
EVANGELISM:
Sharing the gospel with people is the other way the team spends the majority of their time. Throughout the trip we hope to expose them to many different types of witnessing opportunities so that their experience is as compre- hensive as possible.
WHAT DO THEY DO?
The activities of the team are many and varied. The team is trained how to present the gospel at any time and they put it to good use. The most frequent activity is door-to-door visitation where the team goes into a neighbourhood taking free gift packets, with special gospel literature and contact information for a local assembly to each of the homes. This provides good opportunities for follow up with the community that your assembly is located in.
Good works projects are an effective means of showing people the love of Christ through our actions towards them. Literature distribution is an effective way of getting the gospel into the hands of many people in downtown areas or other high traffic locations like outside a local Wal-Mart® store.
There are further opportunities to be present at other special events, to distribute literature and talk to people and share the gospel. Having the antique cars present often leads to better attention at these events, and more chances for spiritual conversations.
The team enjoys it when believers in the assembly can join them as much as they are able. The time spent working together in the gospel is both edifying and encouraging, and will be beneficial to your local church fellowship.
WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO?
The team will want to go to places where you as a group of believers are prepared to go and do follow-up visits. This could be in continuing evangelism efforts there after the team has left. Or it could be making a followup visit to some- one who is interested and wants to talk more, or who has even made a profession of faith and needs to be discipled. We pray that through the visit of the team, many doors will open for you to share the gospel in your community.
When Team C3 comes to your assembly, they want to work with you in evangelizing areas where you see the greatest need and opportunity. Maybe there is a particularly needy neighbourhood in your city where the gospel could be very effective. Or a public event where the cars could be displayed and connections are made with people. You know your area and we want to help you take the gospel to the places and people where it will make the most impact.
OTHER OPPORTUNITIES?
When the team is in town there may be other opportunities where you may wish to utilize their presence. They could help at your Sunday school, AWANA program, youth group, Sunday meetings or prayer meetings. These are all in- stances where the young men have been used by assemblies before.
LITERATURE?
As the team goes out and witnesses there are many different pieces of gospel literature they will use. We have specially designed postcards including an image of each car, some specs, a description and then a gospel testimony. There are custom-made verse texts with a painting of two classic cars: one in disrepair, the other, completely restored. A clear message explaining the idea of RUINED, RESCUED and RESTORED is printed on the back.
There are other verse texts available from Uplook Ministries as well as five different gospel messages on audio CD. There are companies across the US and Canada that have additional gospel resources available for use.
SOME CONSIDERATIONS:
The team is made up of young men with a variety of gifts and talents, looking to serve the Lord in this truly unique training program. Having some members of the team stay in your homes is a great chance for your assembly to get to know them on a more personal level.
There is a certain amount of pre-planning needed to make the time Team C3 is with you as effective and profitable as possible. If a visit to your area is confirmed, we would like to liaise with you as often as possible to ensure good collaboration of all responsible parties. Four weeks prior to the visit we will arrange a conference call with all key contacts so that plans can be finalized before the team’s arrival.
