Greetings brothers and sisters in the Lord

Thank you for all your prayers. They are very much appreciated. We definitely could see the power of prayer this past week with our first real exposure to open air evangelism. We all were quick to realize that we are nothing without the Lord Jesus. It is His strength that allows us to do all we can for God.

This past week was full of adventures for the team. We had our first week of open air street preaching. We labored with Downtown Outreach Bible Chapel on the streets in Ottawa, Ontario. Every day from Tuesday to Saturday, we were down on Rideau Street witnessing to people including locals and visitors. The guys did their first paint boards downtown and all had many conversations.

The highlight of the week was Canada Day as there were hundreds of thousands of people visiting downtown Ottawa with whom we were able to share the gospel. We handed out close to 6000 tracts, and preached to hundreds of people. Early in the day, the team was almost  shutdown from being able to preach, but the mall guards had no jurisdiction over us so they couldn’t do anything. The Lord kept the door open for us to preach and many people heard the gospel. His Word does not return void. The Lord is good.

Throughout the week we were inviting contacts out to a potluck dinner. Three contacts attended and heard the gospel.

During the upcoming week, we are going to be in Perth, Ontario, labouring with the saints at Rideau Christian Fellowship. We’ll be visiting on the doors and doing some cruise nights with the cars. We will also be having a car wash on Friday evening with the young people. Please pray for all the ways the gospel will go forth, and that Christ would be seen in all.

Please keep the work in Ottawa in prayer as they continue to reach out to the downtown community.

The team plans to be in Ottawa from Monday, June 27th until Monday, July 4 working with Downtown Outreach Bible Chapel and Layton Kerr of Open Air Campaigners.

They look forward to the return of Tim Wichers who has been away for two weeks and plans to arrive late on the 27th.

Joe and Matt Reese will be in Ottawa for Canada Day (July 1), where the Lord has graciously opened doors with permission granted to distribute water with their “Never Thirst Again” ministry.

No doubt the team will appreciate Joe and Matt’s presence and encouragement as they collectively endeavour to make Christ known on the streets of this city. Please pray for the team this week, as many of them will be learning and experiencing open air preaching for the first time.

They value prayer for ongoing strength, boldness and focus as they seek to “proclaim the praises of Him” this week in Ottawa!

We have heard today from the Team that they had to detour a little because of bad flooding in the midwest USA as they return from Brookings, South Dakota up to Michigan and over to southwestern Ontario tomorrow. They hope to have some car detailing and maintenance training for a few days this week before getting down to the first week of field training.

C3 starts tomorrow in South Dakota (orientation and gospel outreach) for 2 full weeks! Then makes the trek back to Ontario for the actual trip. Pray for blessing and glory brought to Christ. –Jay B.
